The opening time and solidification time of EVA hot melt adhesive

The opening time and solidification time are important specifications for selecting suitable EVA hot melt adhesive for specific applications. Choosing adhesive that meets the specifications will be one of the factors in achieving the required adhesive force.

EVA Hot melt adhesive

Opening time:Defined as the time it takes to apply adhesive to the surface of a material until it forms a bond with other surface materials..

Solidification time:defined as the time required for two surfaces to form a bond and produce satisfactory adhesion..

The setting time and opening time depend on four main factors:

Substrate type
Adhesive type
Adhesive dosage
Temperature

The current types of hot melt adhesives include EVA based adhesives, polyolefin based adhesives, polyurethane based adhesives, and polyamide based adhesives. Each type of adhesive has its own characteristics of opening time and solidification time. Most EVA hot melt adhesives have longer opening and setting times than other adhesives.

There are multiple methods to determine the opening time and setting time of glue. At the softening point, it becomes softer and flows into the flow when it reaches the melting point. Then, as it cools, the circulation moves the resilient material away from the melt.

Determine opening hours:

Apply adhesive to the surface of the material.
Different times after applying adhesive (2 seconds, 4 seconds); Seconds, 6  After a few seconds, apply another surface onto another surface.
Then let the sample; 5  Completely dry in minutes.
Inspect by separating two layers of material. The last complete torn paper sample (with the longest duration) is the opening time.

Confirm setting time:

Spray the adhesive onto the surface of the material. Simultaneously place another surface on the bonding surface. Pressing time (2 seconds, 4 seconds); Seconds, 6  After a few seconds, we tore open both surfaces of the material. Dry and completely tear off the paper sample (in the shortest possible time), select the sample to determine the setting time of the adhesive.
