Coking in a melt glue pot is the result of prolonged exposure to high temperatures and oxidation and carbonization of the adhesive liquid in contact with air. Cleaning is divided into four steps: “cooling and emptying – physical scraping – solvent wiping – reset”. Usually, temperature control, covering, and regular glue replacement are used to prevent it. Don’t wait until the coke layer is thick before processing.

Switch the equipment to insulation or shutdown, wait for the adhesive solution to reach the operable temperature, and drain the adhesive tank of any still flowing adhesive. The coke layer is hard and brittle. Use a special scraper or copper shovel to gently scrape while it is warm, and do not scratch the pot wall with iron tools.
Remove the spray gun, filter screen, and hose, and soak them in matching cleaning agents or specialized decarbonization agents. Stubborn coke blocks can be softened and cleared by short-term heating, but avoid long-term air burning.
Dip a lint free cloth into a specialized cleaning agent to wipe off any residue in the pot until the surface of the cloth is basically clean. Note that the cleaning agent should be compatible with the material of the equipment to avoid corroding the seals.
Reinstall the components, add new glue and circulate at low speed, observe whether the glue is smooth and whether there are any black spots. It is recommended to remove the parts with residual coke at the front end during the first glue dispensing.
