The commonly used EVA hot melt adhesive particles for book and magazine packaging, with the optimal coating (gluing) temperature generally between 160 ℃ and 180 ℃; The specific value depends on the melt viscosity formula of the particles. When the temperature is low, the flowability is poor and the fiber cannot penetrate, while when it is high, carbonization, strong odor, and adhesive strength decrease instead. Below are three typical types of particles compared together.

We tested both the universal and Sunlife hot melt adhesives with high viscosity on the same automatic glue assembly line: the universal adhesive had even spine pulling at 165 ℃; Sunlife’s high viscosity copperplate paper book core is more stable when pulled at 175 ℃, and there is no empty glue after passing through the cover machine. Both have a wider temperature control window than miscellaneous particles, making it less likely for beginners to overturn due to temperature fluctuations.
Q: What happens if the temperature is set too high?
Answer: When the temperature exceeds 190 ℃, the rubber material begins to carbonize, the color turns brown, the viscosity drops sharply, the spine of the book is easily brittle and cracked, and there is smoke and odor.
Q: Can different brands of granules be mixed and used at different temperatures?
Answer: Not recommended. Different formulas result in different optimal temperature windows, and mixing them can easily clog rubber hoses and cause unstable bonding.
Q: The workshop is cold in winter, should the temperature be raised?
Answer: It is possible to adjust the temperature by about 5 ℃ to compensate for heat dissipation, but priority should be given to insulation of the glue tank rather than simply heating it up.
