Referring to GB/T 7124-2008 (Method for determination of tensile and shear strength of adhesives), the test piece is overlapped with 150mm × 25mm × 2mm plywood, with an overlap length of 12.5mm and a glue layer thickness of 0.1mm. The universal testing machine has a tensile speed of 10mm/min. Take the average of 5 parallel samples per group.
Test results: The shear strength of Sunlife hot melt adhesive particles SL-268 standard type is 2.8MPa, and the shear strength of SL-368 high viscosity type is 3.5MPa, both far exceeding the industry standard requirement of ≥ 1.5MPa for book binding. The strength retention rate after high-temperature aging (80 ° C × 72h) is greater than 85%.

Q: What is the difference between shear strength and peel strength?
A: Shear strength is measured parallel to the adhesive surface (simulating spine tension), and peel strength is measured perpendicular to the adhesive surface (simulating flipping and tearing). Both book and magazine binding are important, but cutting is even more crucial.
Q: How can I test without a universal testing machine?
