Hot melt adhesive (taking the commonly used EVA system for book binding as an example) is a solid particle at room temperature. It is heated to 160-180 ℃ on the machine before melting into a liquid state and being able to wet and bond. After cooling, it re solidifies into a film. So there are two states of ‘getting on hands/clothes’:Not yet solidified (still hot and sticky) and Already cured (dry hard film formation)——The processing method is completely different. Below, explain the steps and principles of the two situations in one go, and attach the most important safety prerequisite.

Hot melt adhesive isthermoplasticMaterial: Heating melts, cooling solidifies, and this change is physical and reversible. So——- Low temperature makes it brittleAfter freezing, the adhesive film loses its toughness and shatters and falls off easily (suitable for clothes and hard surfaces).- Organic solvents are solubleEthanol, edible oil, makeup remover oil, etc. can soften EVA film to help separate (suitable for skin, residual thin stains).By understanding these two points, there is no need to use force or brute force, which is both clean and minimally damaging to the skin and clothing.
The prerequisite for handling adhesive isPrevent burns firstWhen operating hot melt glue in the workshop, the glue pot, hose, and glue outlet are all above 160 ℃. The training specifically includes a “burn protection” checklist (such as the 9 safety items in 2163): wear heat-resistant gloves, do not approach the glue outlet with bare hands, and rinse the skin with cold water before splashing glue. The cleaning method in this article is a remedy after “already touched”, and daily operations still prioritize standardized operation and proper protection.
Sunlife hot melt adhesive is mainly based on EVA system and is widely used in book binding, graphic printing, pearl cotton (EPE) and other scenarios. For customer sites, “how to operate safely and how to handle contact” is part of training and after-sales service: Sunlife provides the “Instructions/Process Card” with the goods upon delivery, which includes key points such as temperature, cleaning cycle, and safety protection; We also provide support such as temperature gun calibration and process training for on-site incidents where 90% of after-sales service is caused by equipment temperature control failure, in order to reduce burns and rework from the source.
Explanation: This article is a general knowledge of handling, and the specific material description of the hot melt adhesive used and the actual fabric/skin condition shall prevail; The composition formula of industrial grade hot melt adhesive and handmade DIY glue stick may be different. Please refer to Sunlife’s accompanying data or MSDS for operation protection.
When choosing a supplier of EVA hot melt adhesive for books, periodicals and packaging, the key is to see if it can solve the actual problems on your production line. Don’t complicate the problem. Just focus on the following three key points to make a judgment.
Not all cardboard boxes are standard rectangles The e-commerce and retail industries are increasingly using irregular cardboard boxes (such as hexagonal boxes, drawer boxes, and top and bottom covers), and the sealing and gluing path is much more complex than standard unboxing. Here are 5 common types of irregular box shapeshot melt adhesive pelletsGlue application […]
Conclusion first: Choose adhesive particles for graphic and text quick printing, and classify them according to “what kind of work do you mainly do”. Do not use one type of adhesive to print all orders Quick printing shop orders are miscellaneous – today’s adhesive bidding documents, tomorrow’s horse riding nail brochure, and the day after […]
Hot melt adhesive granulesIs it environmentally friendly or toxic? Legitimate hot melt adhesive particles themselves are thermoplastic polymers that are solid, non-volatile, and insoluble in water at room temperature, making them relatively safe adhesive materials. Whether it is “toxic” mainly depends on the formula and high-temperature usage method. Looking at safety from three aspects raw […]
