Recently, in accordance with the “Regulations on the Work of Central Ecological and Environmental Protection Inspection”, with the approval of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and The State Council, the second batch of the third round of central ecological and environmental protection inspections has been fully launched. Seven central ecological and environmental protection inspection teams (hereinafter referred to as the inspection teams) have been formed to conduct on-site inspection work in seven provinces (municipalities), namely Shanghai, Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hubei, Hunan, Chongqing and Yunnan, for a period of about one month, and to coordinate the inspection of river basins and provincial regions.
The advancement of environmental protection inspections requires that the coatings, inks and adhesives industries must undergo a profound transformation and upgrading. This means that the coatings, inks and adhesives industries must shift from extensive growth to refined development, from decentralized layout to intensive clusters, and move from the low-end market to the mid-to-high-end market. The core objective of this transformation is to achieve high-end, green and safe development of the coatings, inks and adhesives industries. The coatings, inks and adhesives industry was once labeled as “three highs and two lows” – high pollution, high energy consumption, high emissions, as well as low efficiency and low output. In the current nationwide environmental protection inspection storm, only by conforming to the evolution laws of society and the market, continuously improving and enhancing themselves, can coating, ink and adhesive enterprises steadily move forward on the road of environmental protection innovation, resist various challenges and ensure their competitive position.
In recent years, with the increasing emphasis of the state on environmental protection, a series of environmental protection policies have been successively introduced, imposing strict policy regulation on the coatings and chemical industry. Environmental protection inspections in various regions are being carried out in an orderly manner. Many areas have explicitly stipulated restrictions or even bans on the production and use of solvent-based coatings, inks, and adhesives. This transformation indicates that traditional solvent-based coatings, inks and adhesives that are highly polluting and energy-consuming will face industry consolidation and reshuffling. Meanwhile, environmentally friendly coatings, adhesives and inks such as water-based paints, water-based adhesives and water-based inks have ushered in unprecedented development opportunities under the impetus of air pollution control and the support of policies.
This year, the environmental protection storm is expected to sweep in with a broader scope and greater intensity. For the coatings, inks and adhesives industries, this environmental protection inspection is like a baptism. It will not only accelerate the elimination of backward production capacity, but also promote the industry to a higher level through environmental protection requirements. This will prompt more enterprises to shift towards standardized and clean business models, thereby achieving economic “strengthening and fitness”. Meanwhile, this environmental protection storm has also brought unprecedented development opportunities to environmentally friendly coatings such as water-based /UV coatings, water-based /UV adhesives, and water-based /UV inks. However, everything has two sides. In addition to the above-mentioned positive impacts, environmental protection inspections may also have an indirect effect on the prices of coating products, especially against the backdrop of the current increase in raw material prices. However, whether we keep up with this trend or not, the coatings, inks and adhesives industries must continue to move forward, embrace change and innovation, and achieve their own transformation and upgrading. Only in this way can we stand firm in this rapidly changing era, achieve sustainable and long-term development, and avoid being eliminated by The Times.
How can industrial coating, adhesive, and ink enterprises conduct self-inspections? The following is a self-inspection list for VOCs emissions, for the reference of all enterprise users:

It is very important to understand the extensive application of adhesives in the packaging industry, including the formation and sealing of boxes, paper bags, cartons, labels, special applications, etc. All these applications share a common priority: ensuring the stability, safety and storability of packaged products, which helps to ensure that they do not yield to […]
Hot melt adhesive is a type of plastic adhesive. Its physical state changes with temperature within a certain temperature range, while its chemical properties remain unchanged. It is non-toxic and odorless, and is an environmentally friendly chemical product. Hot melt adhesive is melted by heating. The molten adhesive turns into a liquid and is then […]
hot melt adhesive cost If you wish to switch to hot melt adhesive to meet the application requirements of your enterprise, then you are on the right track to reduce packaging costs. However, if you are currently using outdated manual adhesive alternatives for your business, such as tape or staples, then leveraging a hot-melt system […]
It was recently learned that Henkel General Industries’ Manufacturing and Maintenance business Unit will increase product prices starting from June 30, 2024.
