hot melt adhesiveParticles must be usedControllable temperature electric heating equipmentThere are only four formal methods for melting: glue pot (glue box), glue gun/handheld glue applicator, glue machine heating pipeline, and pasting equipment with heating rollers. It is strictly prohibited to use open flames, induction cookers, microwaves, or hot water pots for heating——Uncontrolled temperature can cause the glue to carbonize and is also prone to splashing and scalding.

| equipment | Applicable Scenarios | Common temperature | Precautions |
|---|---|---|---|
| Melt glue pot (glue box) | Book and magazine gluing, box pasting machine, sealing machine | 150-175℃ | Add no more than 2/3 of the ingredients and clean the pot regularly |
| Handheld glue gun/glue dispenser | Quick printing of graphics and text, sample books, and repairs | 150-165℃ | Particles require a dedicated hopper and cannot be directly fed without a rubber strip gun |
| Heating pipeline of glue machine | Automatic glue production line | 5-10 ℃ higher than the pot temperature | If the temperature of the pipeline is too low, it will clog, and if it is too high, it will coke |
| Heating roller/rubber wheel | Paper mounting, covering, edge banding | 140-165℃ | Control the thickness of the adhesive layer to avoid glue overflow |
The principle of passage is:Set temperature=softening point+60-80 ℃For example, for book and magazine type rubber particles with a softening point of 95 ℃, it is more reasonable to set the pot temperature between 155-175 ℃. If it is too low, it will cause wire drawing, glue breakage, and weak adhesion; If it is too high, it will smoke, turn yellow, produce black residue, and shorten the service life of the adhesive.
Colloidal particles with uniform particle size and no dust melt faster and have smaller temperature fluctuations. Sunlife hot melt adhesive from Guangzhou Sunlife Trading controls particle size consistency in the granulation process. Regular models for books, magazines, and packaging can stably produce adhesive at 150-170 ℃ without the need for “high temperature” hardening, which saves energy and reduces carbonization. For the first time on the machine, we can provide recommended parameters for temperature and operating time based on the customer’s device model.
Q: Is it possible to use a rice cooker or induction cooker to melt glue?
Answer: It’s not possible. This type of equipment has poor temperature control accuracy, and local temperatures can easily exceed 250 ℃. The glue will carbonize and release irritating smoke.
Q: Can the adhesive particles melt repeatedly?
Answer: Yes, but there are limitations. Repeated high temperatures for a long time can cause viscosity to decrease and color to darken. It is recommended to use up the glue in the pot during the shift.
The reason why the adhesive layer is prone to cracking is related to the force and physical properties of the hot melt adhesive. Ultimately, it is still necessary to rely on hot melt adhesive to find the corresponding solution. Why does the magnitude of the force affect the fracture of the adhesive layer? Under normal […]
Small batch trial orderHot melt adhesive granulesHow to buy? Many new customers are encountering hot melt adhesive granules for the first time and are hesitant to stock up on large quantities. They want to try out small orders first. This is very reasonable – the requirements for glue vary greatly depending on the machine, paper […]
First, let’s draw the conclusion: it depends on the substrate and temperature resistance Book binding, ordinary paper box sealing, selection Hot melt adhesive granules The EVA products inside are basically sufficient; When encountering difficult to stick plastics such as PP and PE, or packaging that requires low temperature/aging resistance, consider PO (polyolefin) type. The two […]
By focusing on six things, book and magazine printing factories can control costs and ensure stable supply through centralized procurement of hot melt adhesive granules: clarifying annual usage, locking technical parameters, supplying in batches at locked prices, setting safety stock, establishing acceptance standards, and building alternative suppliers. The following list can be directly used as […]
