Conventional EVA and APAO based hot melt adhesive particles are 100% solid content, solvent-free bulk adhesives that are stable at room temperature, non-volatile, and safe for daily contact and storage. What really needs to be protected are high-temperature burns caused by melting, as well as accidentally eating it as a snack – especially for children.

Many people associate “hot melt” with toxic gas. In fact, hot melt adhesive is bonded by heating to a liquid state and then cooling. The formula does not contain volatile solvents such as benzene and toluene, and does not release harmful gases at room temperature. It is completely different from solvent based adhesives.
It is normal for the rubber particles to have a slight resin smell when heated above 160 ℃. Only when the temperature is out of control and carbonized (emitting thick black smoke and a pungent burning smell) can harmful substances be produced, so temperature control and non empty burning are key.
Adhesive used for direct contact with food requires food grade certification; But for packaging such as cardboard box sealing and book binding, which involve indirect contact, compliant industrial grade hot melt adhesive particles are sufficient, without requiring food grade and with lower costs.
The particles themselves are non-toxic, but there is a risk of suffocation and intestinal obstruction if swallowed accidentally, and the high-temperature molten state can cause burns. Both the workshop and the household should keep the adhesive particles out of reach of children, and the tabletop adhesive gun should be stored properly.
The vast majority of EVA/PAPO adhesives are safe, but PUR (containing isocyanates) and some customized adhesives containing special additives may have sensitization or irritation warnings in SDS. Please refer to the safety data sheet of this brand and do not apply general conclusions.
Q: Will long-term exposure in the workshop cause cancer?
Answer: Compliant rubber particles do not release carcinogens at normal operating temperatures; Maintain ventilation, temperature control to prevent carbonization, and ensure safety in long-term contact. If you suspect an abnormal odor, check the glue temperature and ventilate.
Q: Do I need to wear a gas mask?
Answer: Ordinary sealing and binding are not necessary; Just ensure proper ventilation. Masks should only be considered in environments with large amounts of melting and poor ventilation, and protective gloves should be worn according to SDS for PUR operations.
Q: How can I confirm that the glue I purchased is safe and compliant?
Answer: Request MSDS/SDS and RoHS/REACH testing from the manufacturer. Guangzhou Sunlife TradingSunlife Hot Melt AdhesiveEach series of grades can provide complete SDS and compliance documents, and commonly used models for books, sealed boxes, and quick printing have ready-made information for safety evaluation and customs declaration.
Summary: Hot melt adhesive particles are basically non-toxic at room temperature, and the safety focus is on “temperature control and carbonization prevention” and “preventing children from ingesting them”; To comply, recognize SDS and testing reports.
How to solve the troubleshooting of packaging hot melt adhesive? Hot melt adhesive is some of the most advanced adhesives used today, but even with daily maintenance, adhesive problems can still occur. This guide aims to help manufacturers overcome some of the most common adhesive challenges faced in packaging applications. There may be various reasons […]
Direct answer:Hot melt adhesive pelletsThe cost of raw materials generally accounts for 65% to 80% of the factory price. Taking EVA type hot melt adhesive granules commonly used in book binding as an example, in 2026, the raw material cost will be approximately 9000-13000 yuan per ton, while the finished product price will mostly fall […]
EVA polymer hot melt adhesive is solvent-free, anhydrous, and 100% solid meltable. Main ingredients: resin, adhesive, viscosity modifier, antioxidant, etc. Fischer Tropsch wax in productionEVA hot melt adhesiveAs a viscosity modifier, it mainly reduces the viscosity of polymers and increases fluidity. EVA hot melt adhesiveTypes of viscosity modifiers: Commonly used viscosity modifiers include paraffin wax, […]
