The problem of excessively long glue threads on the book and magazine binding line is a headache for the production line: the glue threads wrap around the book core, dirty the cover, and the glue breaks unevenly. In severe cases, each shift needs to be shut down for cleaning 3-4 times, resulting in a loss of more than 10% of effective production capacity. The length of the wire drawing is determined byhot melt adhesive pelletsThe elasticity of the melt determines the significant differences among different formulations.
This evaluation selected three common formulas and measured the wire drawing length under the same coating temperature (170 ℃) and the same coating roller speed:

According to the actual test data, the high MI fast solidification type has the shortest wire drawing and the crispest glue breakage, suitable for high-speed glue assembly lines with a speed of over 600 books/hour. The standard EVA type wire drawing is moderate and has the best bonding strength, making it the preferred choice for medium speed wires. Although the high viscosity and high elasticity type has the strongest adhesion, the excessively long wire drawing is not suitable for machine installation.
The high MI fast curing series of Sunlife hot melt adhesive particles is designed specifically for high-speed adhesive assembly lines, with wire drawing controlled within 5cm while maintaining sufficient peel strength.
Q: Can we shorten the drawing process by lowering the coating temperature?
A: Partial improvement is possible, but too low a temperature can lead to poor infiltration and decreased adhesive strength, which only treats the symptoms but not the root cause. Changing to a low elasticity formula is the fundamental solution.
Q: Will short wire drawing affect the bonding strength?
A: Not necessarily. Although the high MI fast curing type has short wire drawing, its strength can be maintained by adjusting the proportion of tackifying resin. The key lies in the overall design of the formula.
