How to seal boxes and cartons with packaging hot melt adhesive? Almost every adhesive application for boxes and cartons involves the use of hot melt adhesive to seal the flaps. Apply adhesive to one wing at an elevated temperature, and then place it in contact with the surface of the second wing. Then press them tightly to form a sealed shell or cardboard box.
Naturally, your production personnel are striving to obtain the best performance from these hot melt adhesives, but doing so requires a basic understanding of many factors that may affect the performance of hot melt adhesives. These include substrate, substrate temperature, application temperature, application amount, compression time, and opening time.
In addition to these common variables, there are other factors that can also affect the performance of packaging hot melt adhesive, including:
1. Changes in environmental conditions, even for a short period of time. For example, opening a door in a cold environment or using a fan in a hot environment.
2. Use substrates stored in uninsulated warehouses that have not reached room temperature before use.
3. Apply more adhesive to seek better bonding. Excessive adhesive can actually slow down the solidification time and cause the shell to pop open after being compressed.
4. Replace the supplier with a new box or cardboard box.
In addition, due to the typical thermoplastic nature of the hot melt adhesive used in the conversion process, it is easily softened at higher temperatures. The selection of packaging hot melt adhesive should not only depend on the parameters of the processing line, but also on the environment of the sealed box or cardboard box during transportation.
Another thing to remember is that the listed melting temperature or softening point of the adhesive does not represent its heat resistance. For example, hot melt adhesive may soften at 105 ° C, while its heat resistance is only useful at 60-70 ° C.
What are the characteristics of pearl cotton hot melt adhesive? Pearl cotton, also known as EPE, is a foamed polyethylene polymer. Pearl cotton has many advantages such as water and moisture resistance, shock resistance, sound insulation, thermal insulation, good plasticity, strong toughness, recycling, environmental protection, strong impact resistance, and good chemical resistance. Pearl cotton packaging […]
First, correct the conclusion: Hot melt adhesive particles do not have better viscosity at higher temperatures. Heating for a long time above the recommended temperature of 10 ℃ will cause the colloid to oxidize and degrade, resulting in a decrease in adhesive strength instead of an increase. It can also cause a series of problems […]
