Hot melt adhesive particles are solid particles at room temperature and cannot directly adhere to objects. It needs to be heated to 160-190 ℃ using a glue pot or granule gluing machine to melt into a liquid state, applied to the surface to be glued, and then subjected to short pressing, cooling and shaping to form a bond. The entire process does not add water or solvents, it is a 100% solid content adhesive, and there is no waiting time for drying. It can be set in just a few seconds – this is also why it is loved for book binding, cardboard box sealing, and graphic printing.

After milling and roughening the book core with the adhesive linkage line, apply a strip of EVA hot melt adhesive on the spine of the book, attach the cover, clamp and compact it. After cooling, the book pages will be firmly bound into a book. The key control points are adhesive temperature and coating thickness: if the temperature is low, the flowability will be poor and the paper fibers will not be able to penetrate; It is easy to carbonize and turn yellow when the temperature is high. The commonly used working temperature is 160-175 ℃.
The sealing machine uses a gear pump to apply molten glue to the spray gun, and then dots, lines or sprays it in a spiral shape according to the setting to the joint of the cardboard box cover. After pressing, it immediately sticks firmly. E-commerce express delivery lines place the greatest emphasis on “no bursting and no drawing”, and have requirements for the opening time and low temperature resistance of the adhesive.
Quick printing shops often use desktop glue machines, where particles are poured into small glue tanks and set at around 170 ℃. Small batches, multiple varieties, and frequent order changes are the characteristics of fast printing, so the ease of cleaning and machine stability of the adhesive are more important.
| Scene | Typical equipment | Common adhesive temperature | focus |
|---|---|---|---|
| Book and magazine adhesive packaging | Linkage line/disc machine | 160–175℃ | Penetration, smooth book back |
| Cardboard box sealing | Sealing spray glue machine | 170–185℃ | Non explosive, low temperature resistant |
| Graphic and Text Quick Printing | Desktop glue machine | 165–175℃ | Easy to clean and stable |
Q: Can hot melt adhesive granules be used in households or small shops without adhesive equipment?
Answer: No. Solid particles must rely on specialized melting equipment. For household handicrafts, please use a glue stick with a hot melt gun, which is another form.
Q: Will the adhesive particles keep the opportunity open after melting and not break?
Answer: Keeping it at a constant temperature for a long time will slowly carbonize, darken the color, and increase the viscosity. It is recommended to empty the glue tank or adjust it to a low holding temperature before leaving work.
Q: Can different scenarios share the same adhesive particle?
Answer: Try not to. Books, sealed boxes, and fast printing have different requirements for opening time, hardness, and temperature resistance. Guangzhou Sunlife TradingSunlife Hot Melt AdhesiveIt is divided into several series according to its purpose, including book binding, packaging and sealing, and quick printing of graphics and text, making it more stable to match.
Summary in one sentence: Hot melt adhesive granules are formed by “heating and melting – coating – pressing – cooling”, selecting the right series, controlling the adhesive temperature, moisture-proof storage, and can be easily used for books, sealed boxes, and quick printing.
Based on thermoplastic polymers, the properties of hot melt adhesives allow them to melt at high temperatures and then return to a solid state when the ambient temperature is reached. Hot melt adhesive has a wide range of applications, and its formula has obvious advantages over traditional adhesives. They can be combined with almost anything, […]
EVA hot melt adhesive is different from regular cold melt adhesive. According to its characteristics, the following points must be mastered and noted during use: 1、 Understand and master the models and technical performance (including technical parameters) of each EVA hot melt adhesive. Different types of hot melt adhesives have different opening and curing times. […]
By optimizing the EVA hot melt adhesive, the production time and unnecessary equipment maintenance costs during the bonding process of the product have been significantly reduced. The adhesive clogged by “carbon” (carbon deposits) has caused a considerable amount of production downtime and maintenance costs on the production line. In the hot melt adhesive industry, there […]
Under standardized storage, the shelf life of EVA hot melt adhesive granules is usually 12-24 months; Polyolefin and other systems can last longer. But ‘shelf life’ does not mean ‘just leave it at will’, the environment determines the actual usable time. Key factors affecting shelf life Reference for shelf life of different systems system Reference […]
