In book binding with copperplate paper as the inner page, due to the thin film covering the surface of copperplate paper, there is a high demand for the adhesive used.
It is difficult for people to bind books and periodicals with white glue in order to make them more firmly attached to copperplate paper. After binding, the effect may be good. But when the adhesive dries, the adhesion of white latex is not as strong as that of hot melt adhesive. In addition, the white emulsion becomes hard when it cools, and it is easy to lose its adhesion to the adhesive and fall off. However, hot melt adhesive particles for book glue generally require the use of a glue bonding machine. When binding books and periodicals, preheat and melt the hot melt adhesive. When heated to a certain temperature, hot melt adhesive can achieve excellent performance in bonding books. In addition, there is a rough grinding step during the binding process. This feature makes it easy for the hot melt adhesive to penetrate the spine of the book even when it comes into contact with the surface of copperplate paper or other pages, even after grinding back the roughness. In addition, during gluing, the adhesive liquid has a certain temperature, which is conducive to the penetration of the book pages and increases the durability of the hot melt adhesive layer on the book pages. However, it is not recommended to directly bind books and paper publications with thick covers.
In addition, as books and periodicals are made of copperplate paper, it is not suitable for binding, so the heat-resistant adhesion of copperplate paper must be strong. For hot weather, the softening point of hot melt adhesive particles is higher. A common problem in cold weather is that the adhesive layer becomes hard and loses cohesion. This requires hot melt adhesive particles to have low temperature resistance.
The unevenness of the surface of the board is also one of the factors that affect the bonding effect of hot melt adhesive. The higher the roughness, the less hot melt adhesive is required for binding books and publications. The roughness of regular writing paper, double adhesive paper, and copperplate paper is in the order of writing paper>double adhesive paper>copperplate paper from top to bottom, while the requirements for hot melt adhesive performance are the opposite.
Hot melt adhesive granules for books and periodicals are adhesive products specially produced by the adhesive industry for book binding. For different binding needs, there are usually corresponding types of adhesives to solve the problem. We need to check whether the heat melt adhesive can meet the requirements before bonding.
EVA eco-friendly hot melt adhesive is a thermoplastic material composed of EVA, tackifiers such as petroleum and rosin, as well as some bonding AIDS, and is formed in solid cylindrical rods or granular form. It can be melted and applied by using a hot melt gun, sprayer or other glue binding equipment, etc. Because it […]
Why can’t EVA hot melt adhesive stick? Hot melt adhesive is a widely used adhesive in industrial production processes, but there may be inevitable non stick situations during application. So what are the reasons that affect the viscosity of hot melt adhesive? It is mainly divided into the following three categories: 1 EVA hot melt […]
With the development of the plastic industry and the continuous emergence of new requirements in the market, companies that have been using specific granulation systems for a long time need to consider not only cost but also comprehensive understanding of application needs to choose the appropriate granulation system when increasing production capacity. The three main […]
